First, I had little money to eat out virtually anywhere. Pizzas and burgers were as fancy as I got. Second, I rarely ate much to begin with. I dropped down to about 145 spring semester of my freshman year. Just because. Third, I am pretty certain I never tried Indian food (that I can recall) until sometime later my 20s. Perhaps even late 20s. Could even be early 30s.
