The most common excuse is that the Allies leaders felt defeating the Nazis outright was the best way of shutting down Auschwitz for good. Focus on the main goal and don't get sidetracked by any missions that don't further that goal. And to an extent, that it is defensible. But damn, it would not have taken too much time and effort to make at least one bombing run on the tracks.
