. . . the summer of 1944. Why was nothing done to impede the operation of the camp? Particularly bombing the rail lines leading to the camp? In the Escape Artist, it is claimed that on at least one occasion in 1944, U.S. bombers struck another German target located only about 5 miles or 5 minutes (I forget which) away from the camp. So the capability was there.
