The "ICE Breaker Act of 2026" (HB0832) is a proposed Maryland bill introduced by Delegate Adrian Boafo that prohibits state and local law enforcement agencies from hiring individuals who served as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sworn officers on or after January 20, 2025. Aimed at federal agents hired during the second Trump administration, the bill aims to prevent alleged harassment and intimidation tactics from entering local law enforcement.
The committee hearing is next Wednesday.
