I recently learned that one of my very best friends from high school and college suddenly passed away. Leaving behind a wife and still relatively young kids. Just two weeks after his father had passed.

I don't know if "numb" is the right word to describe how I feel right now. "Disbelief" may be more apt. It just doesn't seem possible that my friend can be totally gone like that. And I hate having to proceed with my life right now, as if this had not happened. It feels disrespectful to my friend. I wish I could just shut everything down and check out for a while in order to properly mourn. I'm mad that life has to go on right now. I don't want it to.
