It sucks to lose peers in so many ways. From having to face our own mortality to just
the emptiness of missing someone who had a major impact on our life...it's just so hard. I'm sorry you're going through it. Hopefully, the memories will give you comfort in due time. But any condolences offered are most certainly appreciated.
I recently learned that one of my very best friends from high school and college suddenly passed away. Leaving behind a wife and still relatively young kids. Just two weeks after his father had passed.
I don't know if "numb" is the right word to describe how I feel right now. "Disbelief" may be more apt. It just doesn't seem possible that my friend can be totally gone like that. And I hate having to proceed with my life right now, as if this had not happened. It feels disrespectful to my friend. I wish I could just shut everything down and check out for a while in order to properly mourn. I'm mad that life has to go on right now. I don't want it to.
