the variability in the NFL and the schedule you will draw. You're still solid, you just miss the playoffs, couple key injuries, two bounces go the wrong way, one controversial call. Now, say you get into 2027 and just wallop ass left and right. Do you really want that chucklefuck in the playoffs? I sure as shit don't want my coach's last playoff memory being that shitshow. You gotta toss him. If you want that kind of coaching just give IBM a contract and claim Watson is your head coach because that's all that was. indicated and this year's Bears team wasn't as good as its record indicated. If I was the front office I would be loading for a run in 2027 while Caleb is on the final year of his rookie deal (I think there is an option but a guy like him is going to insist on getting paid in that option year).
That's why I would almost be inclined to toss the coach at this point. I wasn't expecting a Super Bowl by the Bears, but the judgment exhibited in that loss was all I needed to see to know I wouldn't want that guy making judgments in a true pressure situation ever again. You go in, write off 2026, get some high picks and make a big run in 2027.
