I am more concerned this season about relegation than I was last year. Although we have signed three or four better players this season, after the bright start we look totally disorganised. The defence looks very shaky indeed even with the addition of GSM. Who is supposed to be our holding midfielder I don’t know? and although we look very industrious in the middle it seldom leads to creating anything special.
Worst of all our forwards look woeful, Kavanagh is weak, I’ll be surprised if he gets 15 goals, Nevitt has a poor record, Drummond hasn’t improved at all and as much as I love Fondop I think we have seen his best days and probably his last season with us is this one.
I have to say he’s been brilliant for the club and brought lots of excitement for the fans but time catches up with everyone.
The signings of all these ex Tranmere players and staff exposes a weakness in Mellon. He can’t seem to attract many other players that haven’t played for him before. It’s hints that he and his tactics are very dated.
I just hope the board don’t let us get relegated so that we have to start all over again. What a waste of time and money that would be.
All the excellent work with the youth and academy would amount to absolutely nothing.
We’ve been comprehensively outplayed by both Salford and Chesterfield so far, something has to give soon, Mellon can up with all the excuses he wants but we appear to have moved backwards with better players.
