Odd team selection

I don’t know whether Mellon was trying to out-think Paul Warne yesterday but he seemed to change the team for that purpose. His selection took the wind out of our sails after we gave built up a real rhythm over the late 10/11 games. For starters my maxim would be that if Stevens isn’t available play Hawkes. In the end he was the difference. Taylor is determined to prove that he isn’t a starter, better as an impact sub. As for Sutton being MOM I’m afraid I’m scratching my head on that one. The most consistent player all season, and again yesterday, is Robson. Once again Fondop proved that doggedly fighting (sometimes literally) for 90 minutes pays off in the end. Sutton had his usual game, which included those maddening moments when his momentum stops at times when he’s going forward and needs a couple of seconds to think about his next move. Woods had a nightmare, couldn’t put in a decent pass all the game, and when he’s like that we don’t play well. A display like yesterday won’t happen twice and they’ll be on their toes come Saturday.
