Mellon tried something different today and it didn’t work. In fact it backfired fairly disastrously. Neither Sutton nor Ogle are good enough, so we have a real problem on the right side of defence. Playing both of them together certainly isn’t the answer. Although both goals conceded were down to collective shambolic play by the whole back line.
We currently have 4 fit potential wingers / wide forwards in Hannant, Drummond, Hawkes and Morris. And MM through initial selection and then poor substitution decisions somehow contrives to end up with the two most ineffective of those 4 on the pitch.
Bad day at the office all round, today. But particularly poor effort from the manager. Surely needs to look at himself for what he could have done better to prepare the team to be fully ready to start playing before they were already 2 down.
Can’t say the problem is particularly the lack of cutting edge in attack or just sloppy defending. But it will be a tough season if we can’t improve on at least one of those aspects.
