My first ever fountain pen was a cheap Indian eyedropper (Though priced quite highly compared to a 10 rupee ballpen) when I was about 12 years old. I enjoyed writing with it, but I thought water would ruin the pen, since I had no idea how to clean or take care of it. I eventually switched back to ball or gel pens.
Then in my first year of law school, I decided to give fountain pens another shot, and bought a scratchy 160 rupee Parker Beta. It was a very tough pen, and wrote a fine line with A LOT of feedback. By then I knew a little more of fountain pens, but the nib just put me off using them.
Then in my second year of law school, I started looking for a way to increase my writing speed and legibility. I did a little research and found out that the Lamy Safari and Kaweco Sport were great starter pens. I took a huge plunge and bought the extremely expensive Lamy Safari. And so it started. Everything about the pen blew me away. From how easy writing became, to how the nib felt on the paper, and I couldn't stop writing. Now I have many more pens, at various price points, but my favourite remains my trusty Safari.
