Some great questions. I will answer with what I found works.
1) I think as long as you are not rough with the tip you should not be worried. The weight of the pen pushes on the nib when you write so it should do no damage on the bottom of a bottle.
2) I do not do this unless there seems to be some issue with the nib writing and flow. Or if ink has been left a long time in the pen. I will also use a pen flush at times.
3) I do this becuase I often find that a lot of the ink is at the front of the converter. I seperate the two, rinse the converter completely. Run some water into the section to rinse any ink sitting in there and then replace the converter to continue flushing the feed out.
4) I try to get the water as clear as possible. Sometimes it works to flick the water out or wrap the nib in a paper towel and flick the pen. This helps in determining how clean it is. For me, this force seems to force the excess water/ink out. I then continue to clean and usually notice the water is a lot clearer now.
5) I place the pen with converter on nib down in a cup with paper towels at the bottom to wick away any excess water. After a day, I then cap it and store it.
6) I would do the same thing with the pen nib down in a glass with paper towels to wick away excess water before capping it to store.
This is just from my experiences and info I have read.
