I visited Parker repair offices in early 1990s and I was amazed to see a small oil burning lamp on one repair station. I specifically asked, "you don't really use that anymore, do you?"....and the service manager replied, "yes, but only a few that really know how to use it." I have a picture buried in my print files, this was before I had a digital camera. If I find it I will post the picture.

Still I agree, today even a seasoned repair person would never ever use an open flame on celluloid, it would be like putting a match to phosphorous.
