Dime-store Dostoevsky! A tiny but potent riff on Crime and Punishment, in a sort of ratty Cornell Woolrich vein. Talented star Peter Cookson was an early member of The Actors Studio (and Beatrice Straight’s husband).

The ending is controversial, but I think it is clearly signposted along the way. I don’t have a problem with it.
