Keaney's other 4 1/2 star picks besides the ones on the program:
They Drive By Night

Room At The Top
They Made Me a Fugitive
And at 4 stars ...
Across The Bridge
Chase a Crooked Shadow
The Criminal
Dead Of Night
Dear Murderer
The Fallen Idol
Footsteps In The Fog
Frieda
The Gentle Gunman
Give Us This Day
Hatter's Castle (a personal fave)
I See A Dark Stranger
Love On The Dole
Mine Own Executioner
Outcast Of The Islands
Poison Pen
Sapphire
Seven Days To Noon
Shake Hands With the Devil (to be one day be double-billed with The Devil Thumbs a Ride?)
The Ship That Died Of Shame
Silent Dust
So Evil My Love
The Spy In Black
Stage Fright
Tiger Bay
Victim
Have to admit, I've only seen about half of the four-star list. You might be wondering where the oft-ballyhooed No Orchids For Miss Blandish ranks ... Mike only gives it two stars but also admits it's still a must-watch. Cast A Dark Shadow, a Criterion favorite and one of Dirk Bogarde's most lauded roles, only gets three. At least Victim and The Gentle Gunman are up there.
Mike's range of noir films run from 1937 to 1964.
I watched Imogen Sara Smith's 17-minute intro to the Criterion British Noir lineup and there were a few scenes and mentions from films not in the current program so perhaps there are more to come. Noir seems to be a popular item on the channel. Last time I checked, it's even received it's own category on the streamibg site (Kanopy does as well, with a fair sampling of international noir, primarily French but mostly familiar titles).
