Thanks for that, Carl--my copies of Keaney are currently in flux and aren't readily available (long story!). I think we could all take some issue with his gradings (for example, GIVE US THIS DAY is one that I think he really overrates...) but you're absolutely right about there being at least another two dozen top-notch Brit-noirs that could form another stellar series for Criterion or (hopefully, one day) a movie theater.
Many of the "quota quickies" have indelible moments and they make a case for a type of "B" film that rarely occurs in American noir. Granted, some really are duller than dishwater, but the best of these have something unto themselves that arguably transcend the more prestigious examples...
