New Zealand have to beat Belgium for Scotland to have any hope of progressing!
It was a bit odd that after beating Haiti after game 1 people were saying that they've all but booked their place in the knock out stages, when they still had Morocco and Brazil to come. Games they were likely to lose, and duly did.
Very poor really but their predicament can be summed up in two transfers that have already occurred this summer. Despite Hearts coming within about 45 minutes of winning the league they have sold their main striker and manager Rangers - who weren't even runners up.
Despite the most interesting Scottish season for decades, it's clearly a one off and Celtic Rangers borefest will revert to type next season. Real shame. Live justly, love mercy, perpetuate generosity, walk humbly.

They only made it because the tournamenent has been so heavily expanded. Ditto the euros. And I think that has hidden a lot of the deep problems they have. Far too happy just to be there all the time.
And it's bizarre that their defenders were taking risks in their own box against Brazil yet I don't recall their midfielders or strikers taking a risk in any game, even against fucking Haiti.
Always reminds me of that quote from Trainspotting. 'it's shite being Scottish.'

Only have to go back 4-5 years ago and they were on a par with Norway. They actually beat Norway here in oslo.
Granted, they have a phenomenal striker in Haaland, nothing like him since Stefan Iversens dad (Odd Iversen).
Even if you take him away they are way ahead of Scotland.
You wouldn’t be surprised if they beat france today. Something you would not expect Scotland to do.

To be fair to Scotland, the draw was ridiculous. In a 48-team world cup with 12 groups, how can the 5th and 6th ranked teams in the world have ended up being in the same group? Didn't give them much of a chance, really.
However, the chance that they had was the Haiti game - they must have known that a big win was needed, and they only managed a narrow one. A couple more goals there might have been enough and they failed to get them, so it's still on them for that performance.

Was speaking with a mate of mine up here and he is beyond angry, in his words, for years we've been getting away with piss poor performances as the nation concentrates on "our great supporters", Brazil, Argentina etc supporters are just as passionate but they also expect performances...balanced opinion imo.
To continue his words, they've been in their shells, underperformed, McTominay hasn't shown up,

All but 2 teams in Scotland used to produce players. The 2 would buy them. They would star for a season and then go on to captain or star for an English division 1 team. Then the PL happened. Suddenly everyone was buying from abroad. Including the Scottish teams. Unfortunately the ugly sisters still have the glory hunters, who keep them "big". England has a slightly bigger version. Maybe 8 teams? But all buying from abroad. No wonder they are both hopeless. Trouble ahead Trouble behind

Don’t think that is true is it?
If Egypt beat Iran that would be fine for Scotland as that group will have a 3rd place team worse off than Scotland.

Scenarios are:
1) Australia beat Paraguay by 2 goals or Paraguay beat Australia by 4 goals 2) Japan beat Sweden by 4 goals 3) Egypt beat Iran 4) Spain beat Uruguay 5) Iraq do not lose to Senegal (and do not win by 3 or more goals) 6) Austria beat Algeria by 2 or more goals and Jordan do not beat Argentina 7) DR Congo draw Uzbekistan or Uzbekistan win by less than 4 goals) 8) Ghana beat Croatia by 3 or more goals
8 scenarios there - Scotland need 4 or more of them to happen to qualify.

I'm basing it on the fact that Scotland sit in 8th place of the 3rd place table having played 3 games. Only the top 8 go through so if just one team goes above them in that table then Scotland will be heading home. Below them sit Belgium on 2 points already with a better goal difference. Hence if just Belgium get a point in their final game against New Zealand then Scotland will be coming home. I use Belgium as an example as they are the team which are probably most underperforming and therefore probably going to win. Yes other teams could get results too that send Scotland home, but Belgium is the stand out nation.Live justly, love mercy, perpetuate generosity, walk humbly.

You aren't allowing for the fact that some of the teams who are currently above them could drop below them if they lose. You are also assuming that the team currently second in each group will remain in second place which isn't the case.
If Egypt beat Iran, the result of Belgium v New Zealand is completely irrelevant as far as Scotland are concerned as they are guaranteed to finish above the third team in that group.
Similarly, if Spain beat Uruguay, the result of Cape Verde v Saudi Arabia is irrelevant as far as Scotland are concerned as they are guaranteed to finish above the third team in that group.

Yeah, the Belgium game is actually immaterial if Egypt beat Iran.
Your method is flawed because there are teams in 2nd place with less points than Scotland right now in 2 of the groups.
