Moving players out before bringing new players in

There seems to be a lot of talk about the need to move players out before we bring new bodies in. I don't think I agree with this approach.

As things stand we have 22 over-21 outfield players (see thread below). However this includes Adebayo, who is extremely unlikely to feature until late in the season and therefore shouldn't be named in the squad for now. It also includes Holmes and Nakamba who, frankly, need to be paid off if no-one comes in for them. This gives us 3 spaces which we could, and should, utilise to make signings.

In addition it's perfectly possible that Mengi, Woodrow and maybe one or two others might leave. And what about Jabob Brown? Is he realistically likely to feature any time soon or is he another, like Adebayo, who perhaps doesn't need to be given a place in the squad for now?

Personally I wouldn't be heartbroken if Nordas or Chong left but it looks fairly likely that both will stay. Even so, I would argue that we have space for at least 3, and possibly as many as 4 or 5 new additions.

I'd like to think that we are actively pursuing a number of new signings- particularly in view of the number of unfit or injured players we have. We'll see.
