    Yup Mark, I hear what you're saying...less is more! At this point, it's more work than I wanna do. I accomplished what bothered me most, ridding the nails in the forend & replacing the broken ebony tip.

    While I was at it, there were swivels for a strap that I removed...don't need them. The screws for the barrel swivel were in so tight, I really struggled to remove them & the heads got pretty messed up in the process. I even grounded down a screwdriver to fit just right in the slot. I was lucky to get them out. With swivel/screws removed, I tapped the holes for an 8/32 Allen Screw to fill the void. I'll look around for flush fitting flattip screws later on.

    Square Nails - don't recall where exactly the long nail came off of, but I'm certain I pulled it off...the stock? I must of patched the hole years ago.




    flashback: just remembered when the sq nail came from. It was pounded though butt plate & into the stock...yikes!
