Doug I like Grade 1 guns. The wood on guns is important to me and the design of the LC Smith requires a sound piece of wood for a trouble free life. From the examples I have seen, with Grade 1 you got a better piece of wood, with better checkering than the lower grades. Inspect the head and wrist, if it is completely sound with no signs of cracks, tight or otherwise, it may be a good candidate for further consideration.
