Gary I've used Acraglas gel with good success. Put two coats of mold release wax on the screws AND forend iron; then a little oil on the screws right before you put them into the epoxy, as described in the instructions. This will form nice threads in the epoxy. Get the epoxy into the holes as best you can, any way you can. Even smear a little epoxy on the threads if you want, right before you thread them in, but be careful not to disturb the wax.
This connection is a real weak spot on these forends. These screws are threaded into the endgrain so it's weak from the get. Always take care not to over tighten them. Splitting the wood or pulling the threads out will result. I prefer epoxy over superglue for most repairs but if you favor superglue, Zap-a-Gap claims to work on oily surfaces. Not sure if it works with release wax. Experiment on something you don't care about.
