Bill Just hold the forend against the receiver, you will see immediately whether or not they are a match or measure with a calipers. They reduced the widths of the receivers through the years. You shouldn't have any problems if they're both post 1900ish. My original forend/receiver (16ga, 1898)measures 1.598-1.600". The"new" temporary unit from an 00 12ga after 1900(I didn't look up the year) measures 1.482" and the poor fit and mismatched checkering looks really crappy but at least now I can shoot the gun. Hopefully tomorrow if the stars all line up.
