David The original barrels are the Bernard type Damascus and the forend is the first style ejector. But I'm fitting the extractor barrels so I don't have to bend over to pick up hulls, hence the need for the extractor forend. Apparently my spare forends are for later guns and the contour where the forend iron makes contact isn't sculpted correctly to match the frame. It would work fine and I've used them like that but it doesn't look right. One 12ga transitional era forend had the correct contour but was unsuitable for other reasons. I tried the forend off of another 16 I have from 1900 if I recall and the contour is wrong so this change occurs between 1898 and 1900ish (312841). If I have to I'll temp something on there til the correct one comes along. Nothing ever seems to submit without a struggle.
