Jason: If you will go to the menu on the start page of this site, you will see a button labeled "Photo Trail" open that menu and scroll to "LC Smith design and engineering". Whe you pen that one, there are photos on the right side of the screen. The middle photo in the top row is a cutaway view that shows the relation of the trigger sear and safety.This particular cutaway is of a gun with a three position safety, but the parts work the same way for the two position safety. There is a small,light spring that acts on the triggers. It is not a trigger return spring, but acts to keep the triggers in contact with the sears so that hter is no slack in the triggers.
