In Brophy, there is a drawing of a try gun. It has characteristics of a Curtis try gun but the front end has an adjustment that I have not seen on a Curtis made try gun. The gun in the drawing was probably designed by A.P. Curtis while he was plant superintendent at Hunter Arms. In D.H. Eaton's book, "Trapshooting, The Patriotic Sport", there is a picture of Jack Fanning holding a Curtis try gun that I thought for years was an L.C. Smith. However, after enlarging and studying the picture and other picturs of Fanning with try guns, it became evident that it was a Parker. I happen to own Fanning's Parker that he used when working for Dupont. I have seen Curtis try guns built as Parker, Ithaca, and Lefever guns. I have not seen an L.C. Smith.
