I know I had read this before but could not find it and finally it came to me where I had seen it.
It has always been told that an L.C. Smith should be cocked before taking it apart, apparently not so from Hunter Arms. Two hang tags, one from 1913 and the other from 1925 tell it differently. I'm sure the in-between ones were the same. 1913 hang tag 1925 hang tag The third sentence!!!! Also an interesting procedure that I have heard about but never tried. 1913 hang tag This has to refer to a gun having a 3 position safety.
