    Barrel repair Archived Message

    Gentlemen,

I have an old syracuse gun that I have been working on. I am to the point where I would like to try rusting the barrels to bring out the damascus pattern. The barrels were cut short at some point in its life and now there are two openings that I am concerned with. Although this gun can never be shot again I would like to keep the etchant and other chemicals out of the ribs during this process.

What would you recommend be used to seal off the ribs prior to beginning the process? Would an epoxy like JB Weld survive the etchant?

    Thanks,
    Ryan
