Jent, I agree that the chokes are tight but I had them measured and they are full and nothing tighter. What I'm doing is using a good wad that protects the barrel along with an overshot card that keeps the load together until the wad exits the barrel. I'm using nothing heavier than 1oz since that gives me even less pellets than say an 1 1/4 oz lead load of #4 lead. Currently the gun patterns well. It swings and shoots like a dream. It's too intoxicating of a double not to go duck hunting with under the right circumstances. It is a gun I would not dream of even putting a recoil pad on it shoots that nice even with 3" loads the recoil is just fair.
