    SBT Guns Archived Message

For older members and readers of the forum this is another call to provide information on your Single Barrel Trap guns. For newer members and readers of this forum we, the LCSCA, are attempting to catalog the 2600+ SBT guns by obtaining the following information about them:
    Serial Number:
    Grade:
    Barrel Length:
Stock configuration: (pistol or straight grip)
Rib inlay: (gold, silver or none)
Type of rib (round or rectangular posts)
Type of forearm escutcheon (banjo or rectangular)
Presence (or absence) of 2-56 screw bottom-looks like a pin-on trigger plate near front of trigger guard.
Why are we doing this? For one thing the original LC Smith records provide little more than serial number, grade, barrel length and finish date; sometimes ship date and to whom the gun was shipped. We can 'flesh out' the records through the added material posted above.
So far a little over 100 guns have been totally or partially cataloged. Only one of these has a 30 inch barrel, most are 32 and a lesser number of 34. With your help we will be able to learn more about these facinating trap guns, so please email me at the above address or by regular mail/ telephone through my address on this web site. If you see any at gun shows display your knowledge by collecting the above data. Thanks, Tom
