    LC Smith 20 ga Archived Message

    Guys;
    I'm looking for a little guidance on how to care for my Father in law's 20 ga LC Smith. It was mfd in 1937. It shoots well. But the blue is gone and the engraving is covered more or less with what looks like tarnish but is probably corosion. It's not a collector gun per se but as it was my Son's great grandfather's gun I'd like to take good care of it so one day he can pass it along. And shoot it along the way.

    I have thought of restoration services but don't know enough abouut it. Re-blue? Touch up engraveing? Yea it screws up the historical value but hey, it's my kids gun and he'll never sell it so maybe it should just be pretty?

    Thoughts?

    thanks

    Bob B
