    Rob, I'm not sure from your post what the issue you are trying to resolve is. If you are concerned with excessive recoil you may be shooting too stout a load. I like Winchester low noise/low recoil shells for targets but can only find them in 12 gauge. For hunting I have been very happy with the RST shells in 21/2''. They seem to me to have even less recoil than the Winchester loads but have to be mail ordered and are more expensive. I also think unaltered guns hold value better. If you are going to shoot the gn much I would definately have the head of the stock checked and hardened then glas bedded to prevent cracking. Peter
