I Emailed Jessica Bennett, the very nice Cody lady, with my question about my Trap being recorded as an Ideal. With her explanation she stated "That gun was assembled as an Ideal Grade in 1913. It would appear, to me, that the gun was upgraded at some in the past 90 years." And it was built with one barrel. My question here is why would someone upgrade an Ideal to a Trap? Both barrels, foreiron, and receiver are numbered alike. Why would someone change (I won't say upgrade.) grades when adding a barrel? They would have had to re-engrave the locks, add T to all numbers, add Trap to at least one barrel, and add some engraving to the receiver. Now if it was changed during the manufacture and not recorded...?
