    If Cody doesn't understand the initials, it's highly unlikely that you'll get any credible information from us; maybe they are the initials of Samuel Hunter, one of the six original Hunter brothers(they sometimes managed/supervised the production of high grade Smith guns), but who knows? As to duplicate serial numbers, such are not common; but they are not rare either as a review of the high-grade serial number recap will reveal several (but this also happened with lower grade guns from this era based on surviving serial number records). How these duplication errors occurred I cannot know; but it is also highly unlikely that guns with identical serial numbers were made as matched pairs. The two examples I have seen in the original records had different order dates, ship dates, and ship to locations. If you resolve the mystery, please let us know.
