    L.C. Smith Shotgun Archived Message

I have a shotgun owned by my father. It's an L.C. Smith double barrel 12 gauge with serial number FW199782. I gather that it was manufactured in 1942. I believe my father bought it from the government after WW2. He always said that it was an "officer's gun". I know he had the stock customized for himself, the barrel length is 28 inches. My question is, is that barrel length stock or was it modified when the stock was modified? On the underside of the barrels, it has stamped Armor STFF on top of which is stamped US.
