I'm actually at a bit of a loss for words and that's rare for me. Matter of fact, I'm a little embarrassed at all the attention. All I can say is thanks for your support boys, I'm stunned. This thread and the dozen or more emails I've gotten from other guys really lets a man know he's got friends.
I don't advocate the use of alcohol and firearms in a joint manner and never have. The bottle is for when the day is done, when the guns are oiled and in their cases. I don't even carry a flask in my gunning satchel anymore, not even on the coldest duck shooting day. I wouldn't want to be tempted to open it before the shooting was over so I just don't do it.
I've know a lot of men that have had and still do have trouble with the bottle. And I've know some good boys that have lost their lives to it as well. I've spent some time in the bottom of a whiskey glass so I know how it is and how hard it can be to crawl out. Somebody said one time that liquor is like religion, they're both a fine thing when taken in moderation. I find a lot of wisdom in that line, as simple as it may be and that's how I live my life these days.
Just wanted to clear the air a bit. Now let's get back to what matters, old guns and shooting them. I'm back with you as requested, and again thanks for your friendship.
