Although some, as regards this forum, have made accusations of censorship in the past pertaining to certain comments which were deleted for reasons that those comments were of a very negative nature and solely represented deliberate attempts by some to insult, besmearch, and/or incite more negative response/reaction; please rest assured that it is the judegment of our moderator that such was not the case in this instance, therefore Destry's original posts will remain and there shall be no attempt to "ban", censor, or discourage his participation in the future; and that decision in spite of the fact that Destry, it is alledged, may/may not be a "beer-swizzling Parker-phile". His original post, though deemed in poor taste and therefore inappropriate by some, was abvously made in the spirit of good humor and jest as evidenced by the overwhelming majority of respondents. Those of us who know just a little about Brother Destry's personality know that he is a large man with a large sense of humor, and an equally large appetite for living life to its fullest to include large-bore double guns, large women; and, it is alledged, occassional large amounts of 200 proof, grain alcohol. As to the ladder, I have no personal knowledge; nor do I have any knowlege as to the maximum load to which his large body may or may not have been tested. However I believe we can say with a fair degree of assurance that Destry has been "proofed"! Now, what we don't need expressed herein are certain "terms of endearment" to include such eloquent descriptions as "Evil One" and "idiot". There comes a time when adults must simply "agree to disagree", as such name calling serves only to divide our membership body and create resentment. Regardless of our "Brand Loyalty" the one common denominator that unites us all is our love and appreciation for vintage guns and the fellowhip we all enjoy as a result; so let's stop this madness and refocus our attention on things meaningful. By the way, seems Dr. Bill never did answer my original question; how do the Brits conduct their proofing in a manner that is so superior to what has been/is done here in the US? And even with a British proof stamp, where is the guarantee that just because a barrel of any steel type survives a proof test, that same barrel won't explopde on the next shot. Personally, I see no guarantees; but I did learn many years ago that it's kinda difficult to get much enjoyment from shooting if you're worried about ducking for cover and counting fingers after every shot.
