What a wonderful legacy and a great way to start the new year Mike Yes, it no doubt started as a 2 9/16" chamber but you have lots of options today for low pressure/short loads Polywad 'Vintager' http://www.polywad-shotgun-shells.com 800-998-0669 Eley subsonic/low recoil http://eleyshotshells.com 512-821-9953 ARMUSA 'Vintage' http://www.armusa-performance.com 281-381-7773 Kent http://www.firearmservice.com 512-821-9953 RST http://www.rstshells.com 570-553-1651 No reason not to lengthen the chamber and the 2 3/4" Federal Game Shok 1 oz load at 1165 runs about 8000 psi and should be fine (and can be had at Wal-Mart for less than $5/box.) It's likely to have very tight chokes and I'd make it right for your intended use-Skeet 1 and Skeet 2 are great choices for clays and quail. It's certainly due for it's almost 87 year check and clean-let us know what part of the country you're from and we could recomend a good doublegun specialist smith. Treat her right and you'll be passing it on to a son-in-law some day!
