Looks like there is a great deal of wisdom and experience at this site, so I have a question concerning an L.C. Smith 12 gauge, field grade that my father bought new around the year I was born (1951). Since I plan to keep the gun and pass it on, I'm looking for some advise on the best way to go about getting this gun brought back to 1st class shape appearance wise. It's not in bad shape and is as tight and mechanically sound as it was when new. It was never really fired all that much. It of course now has mostly brown barrels and a few nicks, dings, and scratches, so I was wondering where to start in getting is old boy looking good again and maybe having a little fancy work done as well. Any Information in this regard would be very much appreciated.

    Thank You,

    Carl
