My last entry on this subject was one year ago today on September 26, 2024. Since that time no new entries have appeared. As a result it appears likely that there is no answer that will challenge the present documentation of two events that:1- there is no version of a Monogram two dog engraving pattern later than 1905 (S/N 202639), and 2-there is no engraving pattern of four birds earlier than 1927 (S/N 104695), both of which are in my possession. But I challenge both of the proceeding claims: Serial No. 295158 of January 23 1906 appeared on the internet in a two bird version that could signal the end of the earlier two dog version; the question that remains is the type of engraving on the intervening nine serial numbered guns shown between 202639 and 295158. Also the earliest 4 bird version claim of 104695 (1928) is in doubt because an internet appearance of S/N 100XXX (probably 100178) produced in 1927 is shown.
