Buck Hamlin’s Engraved Hammers in LCSCA Journal

While reading our most recent LCSCA Journal I noticed on page 18 an enlarged picture of the beautifully engraved hammers on Buck’s E quality hammer gun. Article says that it was one of the last hammer guns made using the “high” hammers (not sure if that means type 1 or 2 hammers?). I also have an E quality high hammer gun from 1885 with the same side plate engraving, but regular, simply engraved hammers. Similarly, the my gun’s hammer screws are plain unlike those pictured. Where these nicely engraved hammers common? - Doug
