is this option to buy next Summer, it just seems completely out of sync with the current market, shitty as that is anyway.
Looking at the thread about Guehi and his cost to the RS makes it even more bizarre. I got ChatGPT to do a table of Top 20 sales over 30 years old (excluding Saudi ones) and it sticks Grealish in Top 5 if we got him next year with 1 year left on his contract

He's a great player but he's not in this sort of league...

If both we and Grealish are happy, we will renegotiate a deal with City, and we will sign him for 20m.

If he has a great season, other clubs will be interested. If he's average, we'll fire him off.

But, at the end of the day, he wants to play, in his prime, to get into the England team for the World Cup; he may be here for one season, but it will be his best.

From what I've seen it's just a random figure so City can justify the value of their squad rather than a £100m player they have let go on loan for no fee and we aren't even paying their full salary.
If the situation arises next summer we would be renegotiating, most likely another 12 month loan deal. Assuming he has done well enough.

That's fair enough, I just wonder why they bother putting a number on it at all given its so outlandish.
I like that though, get him here for a year, he loves it, 2nd loan and then a free, or reduced fee given he's over 30 and had one year on contract (and they don't want him back).
I suppose the question is can he do too well for us which denies us any of these options. Time will tell i guess it's next year's problem, anyway I want him to set the place alight from the off!
