Because the alternative is the chance of relegation. They need to keep the ipswich's down as much as the shite need to keep the villas down.
Almost certainly without all of these rules in place Everton are relegated at some point in the last decade. However, maybe teams should be able to be relegated without going to the wall. It's only the premiership arms race that makes it so sketchy in the first place.
