i hope that city grab two hand grenades and dive into the fight to take everyone else with them. the discussion needs opening up to the inequality issues. all around world sport, steps have been taken to ensure that the playing field at least looks level. they understand that despite the viewing figures certain teams bring in, if the competition is shite then eventually it eats itself. masters and the PL are only looking as far as the next tv deal, and not at the health of the sport as an instituion.
for example - everytime villa are on telly and line up with a team unrecognisable from last season... It gets mentioned, but not WHY - its like a tv show has swapped an actor out and dont say anything, we are expected to just go "okay, thats the way of things" and move on.
then you see their best players lining up for the usual suspects.
why is none of the media making anything of this.
i actually thought by now we would be hitting the glass ceiling, but the psr/ukraine/stadium issues combined with the lack of arsedness of the owners mean that villa (and to a lesser extent newcastle) are the ones front and centre.
the issue with tribalism - who was hard done to by city is a by product of this.
same as burnley being able to grab nearly 40m of us because our accountants were shite while we were building a stadium. its bollox and ignores the actual issue.
in the first instance - the PL is not a fair and open competition.
in the second instance - us building a ground whilst dismantling our team had nothing whatsoever to do with burnley getting relegated.
where are the journos pointing this shit out?
