I found out yesterday that Brighton, ever since getting into the golden ticket rarified air of the Premier League have made a total operating loss of 310 million over that period.

They've posted net profits over most of that time due entirely to player sales. But without sales they'd effectively be losing 35m per season, even with record sales, highest profile they've ever been and a massive TV deal.

Presumably that's the same or even much worse for almost all lower / mid ranking clubs.

That to me seems a completely structurally failed industry and business. Surely the whole decrepit heap is only moments from collapse.

Im also amazed any business person anywhere that isn't trying to reputation or money launder would get involved in it at all.
