The unintended consequences are starting to show up all over the place now, I live in Croydon one of those LA's who are effectively bankrupt and they are starting to show up in different ways.

Last year they scaled back on cutting grass all over the borough they sold it as "rewilding" but the truth is they just didnt have the money.
Auto accidents went up because the verges and roundabouts were overgrown and stopping people seeing traffic coming.

The hoo hah at the moment is the rise of anti-social behaviour in teenagers and young adults, the budget for Youth services is not existent, who would have thought that closing all the youth clubs, Local Authority owned amenities and not maintaining the sports pitches would result in a load of youths hanging around with nothing to do might add up to something.

Local Authority claims for damage to vehicles and claims by people who are getting injured on the roads and pavements are through the roof because they are not fixing the issues because they don't have the money.

Parents are taking the LA to court regarding SEND legal commitments not being fulfilled by the schools, and they are having to pay a fortune to try and defend themselves in court and still getting hit by fines and instructed to make things better.

They have had a special government approved council tax rise of 10% and put the council tax up by the maximum legal limit without a referendum for the last 5 years and the services are still getting worse and worse

The secondary issues are all starting to kick in and the chances are that solving the problems will end up costing more than was saved in the first place. And now they still don't have the money to fix them.

Its a fucking Disgrace.
