Yes the records are confusing. There is another one, son of Orlando and Sarah of Somerton, baptised 1791,perhaps Somerton known as Somer, and info mis heard?
same age as Jane when they married(could have been a bit older depending how old when baptised.
Also there is a record at National archives, says he was born Homer Somerset, perhaps the non existent place you found?
National archives says he was in 1st foot, and discharged aged 31. But no date.
There is a tree on ancestry giving parents as William and Sarah, but that child died. Baptised in 1774, and buried in 1777 not baptised. Burial is in a list of baptisms but with a number, which follows on from other burials also included in baptism lists, (think this must be Bishops transcripts list)That was at Yeovil.
Will keep looking.
