Stumped on this one. Might be a good idea to get the marriage cert of Samuel and Eliza, I found a mention that he was the son of a William Pidler, but cant find it now! sorry, but it was to do with the cert.
There are other parishes adjacent to Bideford and Barnstple, Appledore, Northam, which might have something, but not sure if details of records on line.
