I recall seeing recently a comment that pre-civil registration occasionally grandparents were the ones having a child baptised but without their status being noted in the Baptism Register. I have recently been looking at the Baptism Register for Teigngrace and have been puzzled by the details of 3 baptisms where such a practice regarding grandparents involvement could well be an explanation. Does anyone know whether such practice might indeed be occasionally known.
