The diamonds in the Coronation Necklace and Earrings and the George IV Diadem are incredibly sparkling and HUGE but nevertheless retain their small scale glamour. If you know what I mean?
All the Hartnell dresses are very colourful and I don't think they have faded at all. The Queen's dress magnificent and multicoloured, Princess Margaret's mainly in pinks, the Maids in golds and browns. The QM's dress is not nearly so tacky as the photographs would seem to indicate. It glowed.
I overheard a member of staff give out the wrong information on three occasions. One time was about the purple robe which he said was worn on the way to the Abbey. I know this kind of experience happens with us 'Boarder's'. I didn't feel I could interrupt and correct him.
It was just the most amazing display and worth the £19 I paid. (It should have been £17.50 as I am a senior but I forgot to ask and they didn't ask either.)
I wonder what next year's exhibition will be?
