I have handled many Coronation Robes, and each are slightly different, depends on who made them, not all were made by Ede& Ravenscroft.there were cheaper versions available for the 53,using rabbit and cotton velvet instead of ermine and silk velvet.some robes were made by dressmakers, some were recycled from the previous Coronations.many of the under skirts at Edward vii and George the Vs,had the family coat of arms embroidered on them, and not a wide use of Tiaras, just Coronets.the exception being the four Duchesses who held the anointing canopy.I think they wanted to make the overall look of the Peereses a bit more uniform in 37 & 53.
